De e-mail van DUWO over de huurverhoging heeft bij veel huurders tot verwarring geleid.
Ter verduidelijking: de aangekondigde huurverhoging van 4,5% geldt alleen als het kabinet besluit om géén huurbevriezing door te voeren. Mocht de huurbevriezing wel doorgaan, dan komt deze verhoging te vervallen.
DUWO is wettelijk verplicht om een eventuele huurverhoging minimaal twee maanden van tevoren aan te kondigen. Daarom sturen ze nu alvast deze e-mail, zodat ze, als de huurbevriezing uiteindelijk niet doorgaat , per 1 juli wél de huur kunnen verhogen zonder opnieuw een aankondiging te hoeven doen.
De reactie van DUWO dat alleen huurders met een inkomensafhankelijke huurverhoging deze brief hebben ontvangen, klopt niet.
Wij hebben DUWO dringend verzocht om een extra e-mail te sturen naar alle huurders om deze onduidelijkheid recht te zetten en meer helderheid te bieden.

The email from DUWO regarding the rent increase has caused confusion among many tenants.
To clarify: the announced rent increase of 4.5% will only apply if the government decides not to implement a rent freeze. If the rent freeze does go ahead, then this increase will be cancelled.
DUWO is legally required to announce any potential rent increase at least two months in advance. That’s why they are sending this email now—so that if the rent freeze does not go through, they will still be able to increase the rent on July 1st without needing to send another notice.
DUWO’s statement that only tenants affected by an income-based rent increase received this letter is not correct.
We have urgently requested that DUWO send an additional email to all tenants to clarify this confusion and provide more transparency.
